If you obey My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have obeyed My Father’s commands and remain in His love. (John 15:10)

Jesus makes it clear that we remain in His love through obedience. When immature, we obey God out of fear. As we mature, we learn obedience is not how we earn His love; it is how we remain in it. When we walk in His commands, we stay positioned to experience the fullness of His love.

Disobedience does not mean God stops loving us, but it does pull us out of alignment with Him. Love is perfected where obedience is practiced. Perfect love removes the fear of judgment, because to obey Jesus is to stay close to His heart.

Prayer

Father, help me to obey Your commands, not only out of duty, but out of love. Teach me to remain in You by walking in obedience. I want to live in the revelation of Your love.
